Data Collection and Use
We may also receive Precise Location Data (as defined by the Network Advertising Initiative) generated from your use of your mobile device, such as the latitude/longitude coordinates provided by a mobile app publisher or other media supply source in conjunction with the opportunity to purchase advertising inventory for specific geographic location targeting. When we process Precise Location Data (as defined by the NAI), the mobile app publisher or other media supply source is responsible for enabling you to provide or withdraw consent with respect to the collection and use of your Precise Location Data.
We use the information we collect to create data segments, and these data segments are generally based upon your interactions with our clients or other third party media suppliers, such as the websites that you visit and the mobile applications that you use.
We may assign a unique online identifier to your browser or mobile device when we serve an ad to it or we identify it on a client’s website or mobile app. The unique online identifier may be stored in a cookie in your browser or mobile device. It helps us understand your interests and deliver more relevant ads to you. The unique online identifier and other information collected via the Services can also help our advertising clients measure your activity on their sites and determine the effectiveness of advertisements delivered via the Services. This information can then be used by our advertising clients to better cater to your needs and deliver ads to you for the types of products and services in which you might be interested.
None of these technologies enable us to personally identify an individual as yourself. Instead, they enable the Services to determine within a reasonable level of confidence that a browser or device is the same as one with which the Services has previously interacted. For instance, the Services can determine that a browser or device to which we served an ad on Monday may be the same browser or device for which we observed a purchase on Tuesday. We use the information that we collect directly to create segments, run analytics, target ads, and measure the effectiveness of ads on behalf of Delta Projects’ clients. We also use it to improve our Services that we provide to our clients. For these purposes we may share information with our clients, partners and service providers.
While Delta Projects does not knowingly create data segments that are based upon what we consider to be sensitive information (for example, we don’t create any data segments to determine credit worthiness, for insurance underwriting or similar purposes, nor do we create segments of EU consumers based on personal data considered to be sensitive in the EU, e.g. information about physical or mental health or condition, sex life, race or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or similar beliefs), our clients may use our Services to process some sensitive information, which may come from our clients’ sites or our partners. We take steps designed to ensure that this is done in compliance with applicable laws and self-regulatory guidelines, including through our contracts and policies with our clients and partners.
Cookies and Other Ad Targeting Technologies
Like most other digital marketing services, Delta Projects uses “cookies”, mobile advertising identifiers, and other technologies to enhance users’ experiences on the web, to deliver more relevant ads, and for ad delivery and reporting via the Services.
We use these technologies to help recognize a browser or device so that we and our clients are able to deliver relevant advertising to you, measure the impact of that advertising and better understand and recognize digital media usage patterns.
The types of technologies used via the Services include:
- Cookies – When browsing a website, small pieces of information is sent between the website and the browser – a cookie. This information is stored as a text file in the browser, and is sent to the web site when performing a page view. The web site can send updated cookies to the web browser when the page is being displayed. For more general information about cookies, please visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org/cookies/
If a user has opted out of Delta Projects services, a cookie will be stored in their browser, containing information that the user does not wish to participate in Delta Projects behavioral targeting. If the user clears his or her cookies, the user will have to opt-out of the services again.
- Mobile Advertising Identifiers – Mobile advertising IDs (e.g., Apple’s IDFA or Google’s AAID) are unique IDs that are associated with individual mobile devices and that do not reveal your real world identity. They usually are user-resettable.
- Statistical Online Identifier – Statistical Online Identifiers are created via an algorithm using pseudonymous information about your browser or device, including your operating system, user-agent string, anonymized IP address, Internet browser and similar information. This information makes your browser or device distinct enough for our services to determine within a reasonable probability that they are encountering the same browser or device, including in environments where Delta Projects’ cookies are not supported.
These technologies are used to identify a browser or device within a certain level of confidence that enables the Services to function and serve more relevant ads.
Data Retention on our Services
We retain the Unique Online Identifier and the non-sensitive data connected to it as long as this is necessary for our legitimate business purposes. Once cookies has been deleted the unique online identifier is erased and data is no longer connected the browser. Delta Projects store non-sensitive data for a period up to 18 months for business related needs, such as legal, financial claims, fraud or similar.
As a user you may decide to opt-out from the Delta Projects Services and can do so at any time by visiting: http://www.deltaprojects.com/opt-out.html
If a user chooses to opt-out of the services, Delta Projects will no longer use the information connected to the unique online identifier to buy behavioral targeted advertising. Please note that the user may still see the same amount of ads displayed after opting out, but they may be of less relevance due to the data opted-out from. Information connected to the unique online identifier will only be used for statistical purposes once they have opted out. If the user is using more than one browser or computer to surf the web, they will have to opt-out in each browser and on each computer used. Please see the section “Cookies” for additional information concerning the opt-out service.
